Kathmandu Sites

Little Steps, Big Journey

Kathmandu would be cheap and relatively easy to see on your own (most people speak English and it is easy to find public transportation), but we opted to take a guided tour of the city. Our guide, Vishnu, was great and very informative.  There are many historic sites throughout Kathmandu, but we only had time to tour three. Our first stop was to what’s affectionately called, The Monkey Temple. Monkeys are considered sacred at this Buddhist site, and they run free and in large numbers. This was the art district of Khatmandu (my personal favorite area). Loved the “wise man” on the cell phone.         IMG_2324IMG_0176 a Thanka artist at work IMG_2318 pottery drying in the sun
